Starting Fresh

My Color wheel with 12 colors I mixed
My mom loved January! She said it was a time when we could all start over, get a fresh start with a new year.
That is one thing I have been doing in addition to my Petite Paintings. I'm going back to the basics of starting over and learning how to REALLY SEE COLOR!
You can teach yourself to see "color spots" on things. Your brain may say, "The lemon is yellow." If you look very, very carefully, you may find blues and purples on the "yellow" lemon. If you pay attention and paint those blues and purples you see on that yellow lemon, you have a much better painting! The lesson here is don't listen to your brain, LOOK and believe your eyes!
My mantra for this new year is "Paint what you see, not what you know."
I am beginning this study of color by painting a color wheel, and getting to know how the 6 colors + white work together.
I will keep you posted and let you know how this progresses and what I discover.
